Changing Planned Activity
Projects should notify their Project Specialist immediately if they intend to cancel previously planned activities or undertake new activities. The Project Specialist will help the Project determine:
- Is the new activity charitable? All of the Project's activities must create a public benefit and fall within CRA regulations for allowable charitable activity.
- Does the new activity fulfill the Project's charitable purpose? Projects sign a Terms of Reference when they join MakeWay. This document outlines the Project's charitable purpose, and any new activities must be connected to that purpose. If the new activities represent a substantive change in charitable purpose, it may be necessary for the Project to sign a new Terms of Reference.
- Does the new activity present an undue and unexpected risk? If Projects wish to undertake new activities that present extensive new risks outside the originally proposed work, the Support Team will need to receive approval from MakeWay's senior management team.
- Are there funding implications? If the Project has received grants for certain activities that they wish to cancel, MakeWay must contact the funders to get approval for those changes.
If new activities represent a substantiate change in charitable purpose, MakeWay reserves the right to prevent Projects from undertaking the activity. This would only happen if the project fails to fit with MakeWay's charitable purposes or other CRA regulations.
