Proposed Overhead Models Brief
In our first overhead consultation with projects, we asked what values and priorities should inform any changes to overhead.
Projects clearly told us that the two top priorities should be equity and fairness. When defining these values, project suggestedequity meant there was a need to recognize the community value of the shared platform. Projects felt that it was reasonable that larger, more established projects pay a similar overhead rate to ensure the platform exists to support newer, smaller projects. However, there was also clarity that the subsidization needs to remain fair for larger projects. Generally, there was agreement that fairness meant that MakeWay would continue to provide appropriate supports and costs that ensure the platform is creatinga value-add for projects.
With these principles of equity and fairness in mind, we've prepared a brief that offers two different overhead models for consideration, with unique benefits and drawbacks.
