TCI COVID-19 UPDATE - April 14: Rapid Response Fund input + new resources

Rapid Respond Fund for Changemakers – How do we make funding decisions?

A reminder that I welcome your feedback on how we distribute the funds that come in through the Rapid Response Fund for Changemakers. High-level questions below:

  • What should be included in decision-making criteria?
  • Do we prioritize quick decision-making (“rapid response”) or a more in-depth review process?
  • Should projects be on the decision-making committee, or is there value for a more objective group outside of projects that applies decision criteria to applications?

My goal is to share the priorities and process with you all by the end of this week so that we can set a date for opening the fund to applications (hopefully the week of April 20). If you have comments, suggestions or ideas to share and have not yet reached out, there are still a couple of ways to do that:

  1. You can reply to this email by end of day Wednesday April 15 (tomorrow). Rough notes and bullet points are strongly encouraged.
  2. If you prefer a conversation, please join me on a 60-minute zoom call on Wednesday April 15 (TOMORROW) at 8:30am PST / 11:30am ET.

 Future of Good Webinar

  • A big thank you again to our Tides Canada panelists Joanna Kerr (Tides Canada CEO), Landon Hoyt (Binners' Project, Nasma Ahmed (Digital Justice Lab) and Janet Fitzsimmons (Centre for Connected Communities) for participating in last week’s Future of Good webinar.
  • The panelists all shared incredibly valuable insights into how to support vulnerable communities who don't have ready access to digital resources in the midst of a global pandemic, the recording is available on YouTube here.
